DECLUTTERING BEFORE BLACK FRIDAY
Decluttering, dusting, spraying… A few good deeds to live by before Black Friday.That day of the year where enticing promotions are flying left and right (with the Holidays around the corner too).Can we blame ourselves for wanting to take advantage off all these sweet deals on all this sweet stuff ? Nah.Just make sure you really need it (Shout out to Pierre-Yves McSween). So before this Friday Nov. 26th, we suggest clearing the clutter. Pure is celebrating its 12th birthday this year! Since 2009, we’ve been offering bulk-oriented products and in the process helped you guys in joining the movement.When you tag us on social media, you’re all using our handle @jesuispure.Which literally translates to ‘’I am Pure’’… but what’s the story behind this signature?...Well at our beginnings in 2009, social media were not what they are today. A few pioneers were already roaming on Facebook, but the commercial and marketing prowess of these platforms had yet to be discovered.In 2015 however, some businesses started promoting their products and services through socials.Pure was there.But what we did back then has very little in common with our social media usage today, like many other businesses.At first, we felt the need to kickstart a movement, to create a sense of belonging regarding our products.Because endorsing our products is a way of endorsing a more eco-responsible lifestyle.You don’t simply buy Pure products because of their cleaning quality.You buy them because you want to contribute to a better world.This sums up exactly the vocation and importance of our social media community.Therefore, Graphic designer Isabelle Ouellet and Head of Marketing Jenyfer inherited a #notthatsimple mission from the #bigboss called ‘’we should do something with our Facebook page’’.In a brainstorming meeting, they came up with the caption ‘’Je suis Pure’’. Using it as our social media handle and as a hashtag was the best way of regrouping posts, associating our brand to the global eco-friendly movement and most of all; building a digital community of people who care as much as we do.‘’Je suis Pure’’ has become a signature, a way for us to illustrate both our name and the values we endorse.It’s still there years later.‘’Je suis Pure’’, a signature that reminds you why you pick us everyday.‘’Je suis Pure’’, you are Pure, we are Pure.

New Branding for Pure
Excitement is all around. Pride is flowing out of everywhere. We find this new branding much more inline with our colorful selves and most of all, we find this epurate branding a perfect fit for the lifestyle we are offering through our products.(Oh and we won’t try to hide it, we’re super hyped to see our new image all over Instagram)Why change? Or rather; why not?Pure is evolving and so are our consumers.You are more and more everyday joining the movement of bulk buying household cleaning and personal hygiene products.Thanks for being there, with us, preserving our river, our wonderful planet. Gender equality
Maybe you’re one of the lucky few with a boyfriend who helps a lot with everyday household chores. Times have changed since our parent’s era (where joint custody sparked a new generation of newly responsible dads), even more if we compare to our grand-parent’s era (where it wasn’t even a question that you would find the woman in the kitchen).Thank God…mentalities have evolved. We as women, have more control over our destiny than ever before. Also true that the men around us are more sensible to the matter at hand, more conscious of the importance of sharing the load. But do you know a single guy that boasts to his friends:“I’m so lucky, my girlfriend does everything around the house…’’No..Even if there is some progress, women are still the ones who consider themselves ‘’lucky’’ if their partner participates. Erasing generations worth of gender-biased chores from our brains is no easy task. We often consider the guy to be helping HER in HER tasks… But deep down they are just trying to be ‘’nice’’. For real, I’m grateful for all that my ‘’nice guy’’ of a boyfriend does (S/O Renaud). I tell him when he does the laundry, or the dishes: ‘’You’re so sweet. Sincerely.’’As a manufacturer of cleaning products, at Pure, these are questions we ask ourselves. We’d like to contribute to a healthier society, one that is eco-responsible, but also fair. Pure would like to participate in this change of mentalities that is slowly operating across canadian households. Because it is truly in the process of changing, because today’s men are a lot more open to the subject.Although, between practice and principles lies a significant gap. Even if the speech has changed, women are averaging 2.8 hours of daily household chores whereas men average 1.9 hours. Mais, on dirait qu’entre la théorie et la pratique, il reste un décalage. A 54 minute daily gap. This fascinating article from Radio Canada outlines pertinent stats and the evolution of splitting chores throughout history.This data also reflects in our consumer stats here at Pure. Maybe we are indirectly contributing to this sexist vision by adressing directly to women. But really and truly doesn’t take away from the fact that over 95% of sales on our website are made by women. We just want to talk in all transparency about this reality. No need to reinforce the fact that household chores mostly fall on women. We just want to include men (and children tomorrow, watch out kids) in the general conversation…but in fact, women are the ones buying. To this day, it is them, our consumers, our ladies, that embody our public. Tangerine combo for its simplicity
Client TestimonyThere was a moment when I was in way over my head. Didn’t see it coming at all. It sneaked up on us, a little at a time. One for me, one for my boyfriend, one per kid…Comforting ourselves that it would all be over soon, that we just needed to push through… But then another one would add itself to the mess and eventually WE COULDN’T EVEN SEE THE BATH’S EDGES AMONG ALL THE BOTTLES. They were everywhere, laying around half full or half empty; shampoos, conditionners, soaps, name it. All of them falling around all the time as if they wanted to remind us to finish them, thing is they’re not empty for a reason…we didn’t like them that much.Then one day, we had enough. We held a family meeting in the smallest room of the house during cleaning day (hellooo kitchen & bathroom by Pure), looked at all we had in stock and said enough is enough.Since then, can’t tell you how happy we are. The ways of a simpler life has something so peaceful. I mean yeah…we aren’t exactly at the #vanlife level of minimalism, but bathroom wise we do feel a lot more zen.
